the story

A Montana born and raised cowgirl, Sarah grew up in constant awe of beautiful, fast horses and God’s creation of snow peaked mountains and sunlit meadows. Her foundation was built on memories of listening to old country in her dad’s red Ford truck, mastering the art of frog catching with her sister, loving Jesus like He’s a friend, and treasuring every moment.

A hair stylist by trade, Sarah was in constant search of a career that fulfilled her imaginative mind, and allow meaningful connection with others. Her amazing husband, Gethin (and biggest supporter), is one of the main reasons she followed this 5 year dream and made it come true.

Behind the name “Painted Pony” is Sarah’s beloved childhood horse, Sonny. Growing up in a family constantly around horses, she learned patience, gentleness, and grit, which are also crucial elements in silversmithing. From falling off many times, losing many rodeos, winning at some, being bit, stepped on, and kicked, Sonny built Sarah’s character in ways she lives out today.

Sarah’s purpose behind the creation of Painted Pony Smithing is a hope that you will be able to experience that same feeling she had as a child, and that meaningful and genuine connections will be made between you and the artist. That you will discover, or rediscover, the starry eyed, messy haired cowgirl at heart. <3
